SIXTEEN Eureka Cycling Club riders contested the Mary Tams Memorial handicap race at East Trentham on Sunday, 13 October.

Northern Cycling hosted the second race of the 2019 Interclub series.

Riders contested five laps of an 11 kilometre circuit which included a one kilometre climb in the home straight.

The 18-minute group were the favourites for the event and did not disappoint. New Eureka member Brad Dawson was a powerhouse in that bunch and won easily in a reduced sprint finish. Peter Livitsanis took second place to ensure a Eureka quinella.

Danny Whelan finished in sixth place. Less than one minute later the remnants of the main swept across the line including Northern rider Mark Seddon who claimed fastest time after leaving his scratch cohorts mid-race and powering through the field.

Dawson has taken advantage of the $55 three-month licence that Eureka Cycling has on offer for 2019. He received a medal, trophy and $250 for his efforts!
