THE BFNL 9 & Under netball fixture has been released for the upcoming season.

Nine clubs will be competing in the competition that gets on court in late April and plays on Friday nights for nine weeks.

The focus of the competition is development and participation.

“There was a need for this league as kids want to play netball and they have to wait so long to get into the 11 and under competition,” said BFNL netball manager Gemma Murphy.

“This is only our second season and we’ve got more clubs already.”

All games are set for Ballarat High School and each club will host one of the evenings, while BHS runs the canteen.

“Community sport is a great thing for everyone to be involved in,” Ms Murphy said.

“It’s good for children’s motor skills, it’s being a part of a team, learning and developing in many different ways and just being part of a community.

“The feel of under nines is incredible.”

Round one begins Friday, 28 April with the Ballarat Swans taking on Ballarat Storm, Sebastopol up again Mount Clear, North Ballarat playing East Point all at 6pm

Redan verses Lake Wendouree (1) and Lake Wendouree (2) against Woady Yaloak go from 6.45pm.
