EUREKA Cycling staged Race one of women’s race series, The Conni Classic, on Saturday 11 May at Learmonth.

Bleak weather conditions could not dampen the enthusiasm of the 46 riders who registered for the 52.5km handicap race.

Eleven Trial Riders competed with day licenses, including local Ballarat riders Linnea Bjornsson, Lauren Burnett, Shelley O’Brien and Mary Ann Seebeck. Thirtyfive veteran licensed riders competed for over $1800 in prize money and trophies.

Two riders were clear of the field and contested the sprint finish, with Corrine Rice from Geelong & Surf Coast Cycling Club taking the victory. Jess Douglas (Geelong SC) was the Fastest Rider on the day. Riders earned points towards the Women’s Race Series Aggregate which has a prize pool in excess of $1200.
