BALLARAT Miners Women have signed exciting WNBL guard Elissa Brett for the 2026 NBL1 South season.

Currently playing with Geelong Venom in the WNBL, Brett will bring her elite-level experience and athleticism to Ballarat ahead of the 2026 campaign.

The six-foot guard established herself as a key part of the Venom’s maiden WNBL side in 2024-25, and in her second season is averaging six points, three rebounds and 1.15 assists pre-Christmas in her role off the bench.

She scored a season-high 22 points in a starting role in United’s narrow 26 November loss to Sydney Flames.

Brett boasts an impressive basketball resume, having spent five years in the United States collegiate system, most recently with the Wolverines at the University of Michigan and before that at Bowling Green University in Ohio, before transitioning to the WNBL.

Complementing her WNBL experience, Brett enjoyed a highly successful NBL1 North season in 2025 with the Ipswich Force, averaging 17.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.

The Adelaide-born 25-year-old said she was “super-excited” to be joining the Miners under recently announced new coach Brendan Joyce.

“Brendan is a coach full of knowledge and experience, and I am keen to learn and develop under him,” she said.

Joyce expressed his excitement at welcoming Brett to the Miners program.

“We are thrilled to recruit Elissa,” he said.

“She’s a very good athlete with excellent shooting ability and a strong defensive mindset.

“Elissa will complement the fast-paced offensive style we aim to play.

“I also value her aggressive nature and versatility, as she can defend positions one through three.

“I look forward to helping her continue developing, reach the next level and prepare for the upcoming WNBL season.”

Brett is the Miners Women’s first confirmed signing for the 2026 season.

The club will make further roster announcements following the Christmas break.
