ROUND four in the Volleyball Ballarat summer comp welcomed two new teams into the league with ACU and Pomhub playing off against each other in their respective debuts.

Both teams showed great enthusiasm and quickly picked up the basic skills with Pomhub eventually coming out on top in straight sets.

That margin was the theme for the night across the board, as all winning teams record 3-0 score lines against their opponents.

In the match of the round VB Black were all class in defeating Buffaloes in three identical sets (25-19).

VB Black quickly found their rhythm, starting with a run of service winners to build a strong lead. Some improved structure and passing from the Buffaloes managed to steady the ship and draw level in the middle of the set at 15 all before Thomas Gao again asserted his front court dominance to win 10 of the next 14 points.

The second set was a similar story with both teams going point for point until Mellence Silveron had a run of 10 consecutives serves to finish the set for VB Black. Taneka Gardiner was a new addition to the Buffaloes line up this week and was able to find her service range to build an early lead in the third set. Megan Sutherland, stepping in as setter for VB Black created numerous attacking options with her create distribution to eventually overhaul Buffaloes for a dominant victory.
