IN the first feature match in Round two of Volleyball Ballarat’s mixed social comp, defending champions Phantoms regained their Skipper Ben Hassell.

They also made use of the open transfer window by recalling Henry Murnane back from 7 Deadly Sins after a week on loan.

In a very high standard game, Phantoms needed all of the additional fire power their two State League players could provide to eventually defeat last week’s winning debutantes 2 sets to 1.

The other match of the round saw perennial finalists Bengali take on Nemesis with both teams looking to kick start their season after first round loses.

Despite the efforts of Nemesis veteran Vinnie Braybrook Bengali were far too strong, going from strength to strength in each set for a comfortable 3-0 victory.

In the remaining matches, 7 Deadly Sins defeated VB Gold 3-0, BCC Baboons accounted for Slammers 3-0 and Buffaloes recovered from a set down to beat White Knights 2-1.
