BALLARAT, North Ballarat and Redan all feature prominently in the Greater Western Victoria Rebels under-18 girls squad for this season.
Unveiled last Friday 13 February, the Rebels’ 34-player squad includes seven Ballarat players, six from North Ballarat and five from Redan.
A total of 18 BFLW-affiliated players represents just over half of the squad, with the rest drawn from clubs across the Western Districts and Wimmera, and across the border in Mount Gambier.
The best represented club from across the Rebels’ catchment zone, the Ballarat Swans contingent includes Abbey Burke, Sarah Burton, Isabella Harrison, Macy Irvin, Maddison Pedretti, Ivy Roberts and Jayda Wright.
North Ballarat representatives are Kate Aikman, Jess Dawe, Lucy Fraser, Laila West, Milly Shortall and Abbey Weidemann
Redan’s five squad members are Evie Davidson, Ella Kerr, Kizzi Moore, Uma Laughton-Jones and Tilly Stringer.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the Rebels congratulated all players on their selection and acknowledged the many community clubs that have “played an integral role in developing these young women on and off the field”.
The BFLW is further represented by four development squad players – East Point’s Lily Mason, Chloe Dellar and Charlotte Roberts (both North Ballarat) and Amalia Karameros (Lake Wendouree).
