MIDLANDS Bowling Club has claimed bragging rights in the 2019 Ballarat District Bowling Division Men’s Triples competition, winning 18-13 over Webbcona on Sunday at Sebastopol.

Skipped by Jacob Croft, the Midland team – also made up of middle peg Brian Croft and Mick North leading, saw a close tussle in the final.

At the halfway mark Rob Edwards’ Webbcona team were leading 10-6, but Midlands started pegging back the lead and on the 12th end scores were tied at 10 apiece.

Unfortunately, Webbcona – made up of Wayne Pattie leading and Col Young as middle peg, only managed to win one of the last nine ends.

It was also a thriller of a penultimate game for Midland against a City Oval team skipped by Wayne Roberts. With scores tied at 13 all going into the last end it came down to the last bowl on the last end with the final score 15-13.

In the second semi-final Webbcona had a convincing win over Norm Hand’s team from Buninyong. The final score was 26-11 Edwards way, yet was not reflective of the game with Buninyong having no luck, missing and finding holes on many occasions.
