COMPETITIVE sailing has resumed with Ballarat Yacht Club races five and six of the spring pennant taking to Lake Wendouree two weekends ago.

Saturday, 17 October saw a fine day with again a great turnout of boats and moderate winds coming in from the south south-west at about eight to 10 knots.

The conditions tested the skills of all the sailors, including 10 lasers and five juniors.

Unfortunately, as COVID-19 restrictions were still in place the rules didn’t allow for senior sailors in the jubilees to start.

A Club spokesperson said it was great to see the juniors increase in numbers, again with a new class for the season, the minnows, making a comeback thanks to support of our club members.

In days gone by the minnows were a major class in the history of the club and a breeding ground for many excellent sailors taking out national and state titles, this increase in juniors augments well for the future development of the club.
