New At the Heads tenant signs 21-year lease
THE famed restaurant’s future has been emphatically secured as Sea Change Hospitality has penned a 21-year lease to operate from the premises.
The tender process was requested by Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio.
Barwon Coast Committee of Management (Barwon Coast) was tasked with deciding the new tenant of the venue at 1A Jetty Road, Barwon Heads, due to it being on crown land. They began accepting applications in February.
The new tenant was initially set to be announced between May and June; however, the process was delayed due to COVID-19.
Despite the effects COVID-19-restrictions have had on the hospitality industry, Barwon Coast reported a “competitive tender process” involving several well-known and highly successful hospitality businesses.
Barwon Coast’s Tender Steering Committee discerned Sea Change Hospitality as being the standout applicant.
The tender process only considered the venue being used as a restaurant and stated no redevelopments to the site would be considered.
