Are you the next Rachael Lynch?

May 8, 2019 BY

Veteran Hockeyroo and dual Commonwealth Games gold medallist Rachael Lynch gained experience as a goalkeeper from her local Greensborough Hockey Club.

TORQUAY Hockey Club continues to flourish with 10 teams in women’s, men’s and mixed juniors as new members flock to the relatively young club.

The club does, however, have a couple of gaps, the biggest being female goalkeepers and the club has put a call out for experienced goal keepers in Division 1 and Division 2.

Club secretary Georgina Sayer said that as Torquay is a sea-change community where lots of people move into town, there must be great female goal keepers out there, “we just need to find them”.

“The club has players from Torquay, Armstrong Creek and the Bellarine with over 200 members and growing,” Ms Sayer said.

“We are just struggling for goalkeepers at the moment so if you have experience and would like to join our club, then give us a call.

“Rachael Lynch, the Australia goalkeeper, is an example of how far you can go in hockey.

“Rachael is from Greensborough Hockey Club and is the world’s best goal keeper and travels the world playing over 150 games as a Hockeyroo in the sport she loves.”

The club is also looking to recruit experienced hockey players for the Division 1 Men and there is also space in the under 14 mixed team for new players.
