Bellarine Football Netball League announces fixtures for 2020

December 12, 2019 BY

Reigning premiers Barwon Heads will start their 2020 season away to Portarlington.

THE Bellarine Football Netball League (BFNL) recently announced its fixtures lists for the 2020 season.

The football and netball season will begin on April 4.

A point of contention surrounding the fixtures release is that the BFNL and Geelong Football Netball League grand finals will both take place on

September 12. The last time the grand finals were not scheduled on different days was 2014.

In the football league, reigning premiers Barwon Heads will begin their season with a trip to Portarlington, while the netball premiers Torquay will host Modewarre.

There will also be some special rounds. Round 14 will see the return of the TAC Towards Zero Round, while Portarlington and Newcomb will once again meet on Good Friday.

Round 10 will look to raise awareness for mental health through Beyond Blue and Read the Play.

The Love the Game round will also return in round 5.

The two 2019 football grand finalists – Barwon Heads and Torquay – will have to wait until round nine at Howard Harmer Oval to play each other.

Similarly, it will not be until round seven that the 2019 netball grand final pair of Torquay and Geelong Amateur meet.

Round seven will also see the first “Battle of the Bridge” of the season. Ocean Grove will host Barwon Heads at Ray Menzies Oval, before the sides resume the rivalry in round 14 at Howard Harmer Oval.
