JACK Driver belted four sixes off the final five balls of the innings to deliver Geelong City the most stunning of victories in the Geelong Cricket Association second division.

Geelong City, chasing Bell Park’s 192, needed 23 off the final over with two wickets in hand. It lost its ninth wicket on the first ball of the over, then hit a single to put Driver on strike. He then hit two sixes, followed by a wide, leaving the side needing nine runs off the final two balls.

Driver (79*) launched the final two deliveries over the fence to claim victory in amazing fashion.

In other matches, Bell Post Hill proved too strong for Torquay in the top-of-the-table clash, claiming an 89-run win.

The Panthers got off to a shaky start at 3-29 before contributions from Ryan Mills (48), Ben Muir (68) and Glen Talarico (54) ensured Bell Post Hill posted an impressive score, finishing at 8-240. James Fisher took 5-37 for the Tigers.

In response, Torquay could only manage 7-151. Aside from Tom Henderson, who scored 43, none of the Torquay batsmen could go on after making starts.

Marshall were put to the test by an up-and-coming Alexander Thomson side, prevailing by three wickets late in the day. The Vikings worked their way to 206, helped by some lower-order hitting from Jay Dunstan, who top-scored with 41. Marshall had it all to do at 7-165 following a couple of run outs, but Lachie Cameron (46*) and Tom Beasley (14*) guided the side home.

St Peters belted Modewarre, dismissing it for 65 runs and reeling in the total with nine wickets to spare.
