THE Batman Management Group Bellarine Cup was run at Geelong Racecourse earlier in the month, recording its highest attendance yet.

About 1,500 were present to see Campbell Rawiller jockey Gasworx across the line in a photo finish.

Trained by George Osborne, Gasworx narrowly beat Cincinnati Red and Okie.

Geelong Horse Racing chief executive officer Daniel Salter said the event was a fantastic day for everyone, but he was still eager to see it grow even more.

“It was a great day, good weather, a really good crowd. We had a heap of kids activities, so it was a really good family day.

“We’re trying to build the day and hopefully make it a bigger race in the future.”

More than 250 people also took part in the Batman Management Group Luncheon which raised funds for the Portarlington Demons Football and Netball Club.

Mr Salter said the luncheon was a big success.

“They had a sensational time. They had entertainment in there. It was a really good day.”
