Registrations open for Surf Coast Trek

January 2, 2018 BY

REGISTRATIONS have opened for the third annual Surf Coast Trek.

After booking out last year, organisers have increased registrations to 850 for the 2018 event, which will be held on April 1.

Organisers expect the event to again book out, and are encouraging interested trekkers to register as soon as they can to guarantee a spot.

The trek moves along 40 kilometres of coastline from Aireys Inlet to Torquay.

Most of the walk is alongside the ocean on cliff top paths and beaches, although the path does go inland at a couple of spots; the longest section being from Point Addis to Southside through the Iron Bark Basin.

The walking surface varies between flat paved surfaces (the last section towards the finish in Torquay), rugged and fairly steep steps (the Iron Bark basin) as well as some beach walking in soft sand at high tide (the section before Point Addis).

Participants can trek as individuals or in teams of four.

Started in 2016, the Surf Coast Trek supports the work of the Kids Plus Foundation and Give Where You Live Foundation trough fundraising by the participants.
