Round 2 grading junior netball wrap

July 30, 2020 BY

Ocean Grove played Newtown in the junior netball at the weekend.

IT WAS a weekend of mixed results for Barwon Heads juniors on the court in the second round of grading matches in the 2020 Bellarine Netball League season.
The Seagulls played away on Saturday against Newtown at Elderslie Reserve; a location that Barwon Heads netball director Kylie Rawson said was “actually a bit weird” for her players.
“The girls were a bit like a rabbit in the headlights, arriving at a venue that they’re not used to.
“We had a mix of results, as anticipated against Newtown, but the girls were just so excited to be able to get out on the court.”
The club’s teams ran the gamut of the scoring spectrum on Saturday, from Under-13s team Barwon Heads 1 winning by 14 goals against Newtown Eagles, Under 13s team Barwon Heads 3 only scoring a solitary goal against 31 from Newtown Red, and Under-17s team Barwon Heads 1 drawing 23 goals-all against Newtown 2.
In other Under-13s results, Newtown 1 dominated Bell Park Green 42 goals to 3, St Mary’s Green drew with Drysdale 17-all, and Leopold Gold overcame Ocean Grove Thorley in a low-scoring contest, 7 goals to 3.
In the Under-15s, Portarlington Blue easily accounted for Lara Blue 27 goals to 12, Queenscliff Blue went down to St Marys White 10 goals to 21, and Ocean Grove Godfrey lost to St Albans, 14 goals to 26.
In the Under-17s, Leopold Lions had a narrow two-point win over Ocean Grove Birch, 16 goals to 14, Ocean Grove 2 doubled the score of Leopold Gold, 25 goals to 12, and St Marys Navy had a runway victory against Drysdale, 55 goals to 8.
