Amy Turner defeated opponent Jaala Tommit, who is 10 years older than she is.

RISING Torquay champion Amy Turner scored another impressive win in Lilydale on Saturday May 18.

The up-and-coming 17-year-old boxer from Coastal Boxing took on Jaala Tommit, 27, who Amy’s trainer Ash Lynch described as a “female Mike Tyson”.

“She (Jaala) was also a southpaw. We weren’t told that, and I had prepared Amy for an orthodox,” Lynch said.

“But with a barrage of beautifully timed hard straight rights into the face, Amy slowed the girl down big time. Timing and speed equal power.”

Amy will fight again on June 26 in Chelsea, Melbourne. Coastal Boxing’s Euan Kennedy has been offered a Victorian title shot at the same event, which the club is “seriously considering”.
