WITH 2020 marking Torquay Golf Club’s centenary, the club is holding a family fun day at the RACV Torquay Resort to help raise money for celebrations they have planned throughout the year.

The event will feature a ball drop raffle. This will enable people to tickets for up to four balls that will be dropped from a cherry picker, with the closest to the flag winning.

The winner will receive a $4,000 voucher, with vouchers given out to people down to fourth place. Tickets are $60 each.

The event will also feature live music throughout the day, food and drink stalls, lucky door prizes and various activities for children.

Torquay Golf Club president Greg Libbis said the club had ambitious plans for its centenary celebrations.

“Over the year we’ve got a Torquay Golf Club Olympics in July, which will be a fun golf event. We’ve also got the naming of the pennant teams of the century, both male and female.

“For a bit of fun, we’ve got the members prior to RACV (which purchased the club in 2008) playing the members post-RACV, and we have a gala dinner near the end of the year.”

The club has already had a launch and opening day, which were well attended.

The day will run from noon-6pm on March 15. Entry to the event is free.
