ACCLAIMED Australian singer Jeff Duff will bring his Bowie Unzipped – 10th Anniversary Farewell Tour to Bendigo in August.
The performance comes a decade after both David Bowie’s death and since Duff began the Bowie Unzipped tribute.
The show features Duff’s interpretation of Bowie’s best-known hits and has been critically acclaimed.
Together with a band featuring Glenn Rhodes on keyboards, Jak Housden on guitar and Justin Duggan on drums, Duff will perform Ziggy Stardust, Space Oddity, China Girl, The Jean Genie and more.
“I don’t think it’s overstating the case to say that, had Jeff Duff hailed from a country in the top half of the world, he could now be as acknowledged and acclaimed as David Bowie or Lou Reed or Iggy Pop,” said Australian music historian Glenn A Baker.
Duff has been singing Bowie’s songs for many years and the two shared a personal connection.
Bowie frequented Duff’s shows when he was performing in London in the late 70s and early 80s.
Then when Duff returned to Australia in the late 80s, Bowie tracked him down when he discovered they were living next door to one another in Elizabeth Bay in Sydney.
“Duffo starts big with Starman, followed by China Girl which sounds better than Bowie or Iggy Pop,” a review from Fast Louder Magazine said.
“If you closed your eyes, you could believe it was Bowie on stage.
“Jeff Duff is legend.”
Tickets for the performance starting at 8pm on Saturday 29 August at The Capital Theatre, Bendigo are available at boxoffice.gotix.com.au
