Get into nature and combat burnout

WITH the aim of combatting rates of burnout and supporting Victorian women, not-for-profit Get a Grip of the Grind Festival is set to kick off its annual wellbeing festival.

Incorporating a combination of outdoor activities, workshops and forums, the event starting 26 February hopes to bring women from across the state to Bright to take part.

Ambassador and board member Jessica Trijsburg said although some of the activities had to be swapped due to COVID restrictions, the event if still going ahead and even has some tickets still up for grabs.

“A few of the sessions are already booked out because they’re really popular, things like white water rafting, sailing, crevassing and yoga but there’s still tickets for sale and plenty of workshops,” she said.

“We try and focus on mind set, exercise in nature, sleep, nutrition and the importance of challenging yourself because the benefits of that carries over into all aspects of your life.

“After last year, rates of burnout which is now being recognised by the World Health Organisation are critically important particularly for women, so having some me time is essential.”

Although the experience has been running for three years, Ms Trijsburg said after attending the event last year for the first time, she was inspired to turn her life around.

“I’ve been able to make life work much better since then for me and my young kids so I’m a strong supporter and I signed up to help in any way that I could with the festival,” she said.

“We also run a retreat two times a year which is a much more in depth, curated experience for a smaller number and then we also have a series of workshops throughout the year.”
