Kindness goes a long way at servo
APCO’s charity arm the APCO Foundation has been on a mission to raise $250,000 during July.
Specially made Kindness Hearts have been on sale at each of their service stations around Australia for $2, $5, $10 or $20 each and 20 cents from every coffee purchase has been going towards the cause.
Branded products have also been available including Chill Water, foundation lollies, soft drinks, socks and beanies.
It all came to a climax during Tuesday’s Kindness Day with every APCO station including the new 24/7 outlet in White Hills taking part and staff dressing up in pink clothes – the charity’s signature colour.
The foundation was set up in 2013 to provide prompt financial support to people in crisis.
“While others take weeks or months to process applications, we act within days,” chair Sharon Gleeson said.
“We’re the foundation for people who fall through the cracks.
“The elderly pensioner who can’t afford rent, the young mum fleeing family violence, families facing unexpected illness.
“Kindness Day is our way of celebrating every person who makes that work possible.”
APCO Service Stations director Rob Anderson said the foundation reflects what the business has always believed.
“Our stores sit at the heart of their communities, and Kindness Day is the day that really shows,” he said.
“I could not be prouder of our foundation, our teams and our customers.”
