Diggers ready to rumble with Royals

SOUTH Bendigo Diggers take on Bendigo’s Royals in this Saturday’s 13th round of premier division matches in Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields weekend pennant bowls.

It’s third against second with two rounds to go in the home-and-away series.

The Diggers have home-green advantage when the match starts at 1.30pm on the Palmerston Street greens in Quarry Hill.

South Bendigo won its latest hit-out at home against Golden Square by 13 shots.

Victory put the Diggers in third place in the premiership race on 131 points behind Bendigo (149) and Moama (162).

The Royals will be keen to bounce back from a 2-78 to 16-82 loss at home to Moama.

The best result for Bendigo was the 34-19 win by Luke Hoskin against Kevin Anderson.

Moama will be back home against Eaglehawk.

The Steamers won three of four rinks against Bendigo.

Cameron Keenan’s rink won 22-9 as the Matt Robertson and Alex Marshall-skipped rinks won by two and four shots respectively.

Eaglehawk is on the rebound from a 14-shot loss at Bendigo East.

The Magpies outplayed the Hawks 16-84 to 2-70.

Golden Square is back at home against Marong.

Best for the Bulldogs at South Bendigo was Travis Berry’s rink, which claimed a 15-13 win.

Marong’s tally of four wins in its debut premier division season includes beating Moama by three shots in round four and an 80-73 victory at South Bendigo in round six.

Kangaroo Flat will be desperate to end its season ‘duck’ when it hosts Bendigo East on the Station Street greens.
