Best in the business shineon stage at gala awards night

HUNDREDS of people gathered to celebrate the region’s best at the Ballina Business Awards, with ENV Solutions the standout winner after claiming the Business of the Year title and five category awards.

The Ballina Chamber of Commerce hosted the gala awards at the RSL Club, recognising 64 finalists across 26 categories and showcasing the strength and diversity of the local business community.
The Ballina-based environmental consultancy and engineering firm ENV Solutions dominated the awards, winning Excellence in Innovation, Excellence in Sustainability, Excellence in Agriculture and Primary Industries, Excellence in Business and Professional Services, and Excellence in Medium Business before being crowned Business of the Year.

Plateau Tyres was also among the night’s major winners, taking out Excellence in Retail and Personal Services as well as the Plateau Business of the Year award.
Owned and operated by Paul and Nicky Pirlo, with support from their children Lachlan and Zoe, Paul Pirlo said the recognition reflected the dedication of the team.

“To be recognised alongside so many outstanding local businesses is something we’re incredibly proud of,” he said.
“A huge thank you to our amazing team at Plateau Tyres, whose hard work, dedication and commitment make achievements like this possible every day.”
Dr. Moose won the Lennox Head Business of the Year and an Excellence in Micro Business award.

Sistability enjoyed a successful evening, collecting four awards including Excellence in Small Business, Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion, Excellence in Workplace Health and Wellbeing and Employer of Choice (20 Employees and Under).
Biala Support Services claimed Excellence in Health, Care and Wellness Industries and Employer of Choice (21 Employees and Over), while St Andrew’s Community Aged Care was recognised for Excellence in Large Business.

Noah’s Mini Golf was named Outstanding New Business, HOME Alstonville won Outstanding Visitor Experience, and Ballina RSL’s Scott Redford received the Outstanding Employee award.
The individual leadership awards went to Chris Photiou from The Trident Fish & Grill as Outstanding Young Business Leader, Rhys Carmichael from Avid Constructions & Contracting as Outstanding Business Leader (20 Employees and Under), and Todd Yourell from St Andrew’s Community Aged Care as Outstanding Business Leader (21 Employees and Over).
Category winners will now progress to the regional and state stages of the Business NSW Awards program, where they will compete against the best businesses from across New South Wales.
