CLASSICAL music lovers are invited to experience an inspiring afternoon of orchestral excellence when the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra presents an afternoon of musical masterpieces on Sunday 26 July at the Tweed Heads
Civic Centre.
Under the baton of conductor Owen Clarke, the orchestra will perform a captivating program featuring some of the greatest works in the classical repertoire. Audiences will be treated to Mozart’s dramatic Overture to Don Giovanni, Richard Strauss’s magnificent Horn Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, and Beethoven’s exhilarating Symphony No. 7 in A Major.
A highlight of the concert will be the appearance of acclaimed French horn soloist Neil O’Donnell, whose performance of Strauss’s beloved concerto promises to be a memorable musical experience. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Neil has enjoyed a distinguished career performing with leading orchestras and ensembles throughout Australia and overseas. Alongside his performing career, he has devoted more than 16 years to music education, inspiring the next generation of musicians.
Strauss composed his First Horn Concerto as a showcase for the instrument’s warmth, agility and expressive power, making it a favourite among horn players and audiences alike. Combined with Mozart’s sparkling overture and Beethoven’s joyous Seventh Symphony, the program offers an afternoon of truly wonderful music.
