An open letter to the Torquay community
SHARON SAPSTEAD
General manager, Regis Torquay
Dear Torquay community,
It has been almost six months since our home became part of the Regis family and I want to thank you for the way you’ve welcomed Regis into the community.
There is a strong sense of local pride in Torquay and it’s something we feel every day.
Since joining as general manager at the start of this year, I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the residents, families and team here and to understand what matters most to this community.
From the moment Regis arrived in the region, our focus has been on making Regis Torquay a place where people feel safe, respected and genuinely at home.
We’ve been steadily making changes; some visible, others behind the scenes, but all important.
We’ve strengthened our team, bringing in more people who are skilled and who care deeply about the residents they support. We’re also investing in ongoing training and support, so our teams feel confident and equipped to deliver high-quality care.

Being part of a national organisation means we can draw on well-established clinical expertise, stronger governance and shared learnings from across the country.
That support is helping us lift standards and build consistency, while still shaping the home around the needs of this local community.
At a day-to-day level, we’re continuing to focus on the things that matter most to our residents.
Our new lifestyle program is directly informed by resident feedback, from music and creative activities to time outdoors and connection with others.
At Regis, we know mealtimes are an important part of the day. That’s why our menus are developed in collaboration with our residents, to reflect their preferences and routines.
These are the moments that make a place feel like home.
We’re proud of the progress made so far and have a strong foundation in place, supported by a committed team with a clear focus on continuing to lift the experience we provide.
To our residents, families and the wider Torquay community – thank you for your patience, your feedback and your trust so far. It matters and it shapes what we do every day.
If you’re considering aged care for yourself or a loved one, we welcome you to come and see the home for yourself.
