A man has died following a serious motorbike crash in Newcomb in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Emergency services were called to Portarlington Road about 1.45am after reports a motorbike had crashed.
The rider, a 31-year-old man from Moolap, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. He later died in hospital.
Geelong Highway Patrol officers are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, as authorities work to determine exactly what led to the incident.
Police have not yet released further details about how the crash occurred or whether any other vehicles were involved.
The death adds to Victoria’s growing road toll, with authorities continuing to urge drivers and riders to take care, particularly during late night and early morning hours when visibility and fatigue can become major factors.
Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area at the time, is being urged to come forward.
