A GLOBAL company’s shift to Geelong’s innovation precinct has been marked with a million-dollar contribution to Deakin University.

SaniteX Global has emerged as a leader in providing solutions to the world’s most complex public health concerns with their sights now set on Geelong.

Co-director of Deakin University’s Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute, professor Kon Mouzakis said the emerging partnership will have a global impact.

“The commitment of $1 million from SaniteX Global will allow the Institute to collaborate on the next wave of innovation, today and into the future,” he said.

“We’re looking forward with anticipation what our ongoing partnership with SaniteX Global will bring.”

Through partners with Australian academic and research institutions, SaniteX Global is looking to assist with a comeback from the current pandemic as well as prepare for the next public health concern from its new office at the Federal Mills in Geelong’s north.

The Australian-born business with an international presence has pioneered the concept of ‘scaled facilitation’ by removing the barriers preventing entry to global markets for aspiring Australian innovators through regulatory, finance and global business networks.

Geelong-born SaniteX founder David Collard said he was excited for his global company to have its roots in the region.

“Geelong is building an international reputation as an innovation hub of significant calibre,” he said.

“The world as we know it has dramatically changed course and there is certainly a need for fresh thinking and innovation to navigate the new normal especially in a post-vaccine environment.

“With this principle in mind, we have established new ‘bio bridges’ between Australia, the United States and other international locations to enable these ideas to gain prominence, and importantly, scale.”

The Federal Mills business and innovation precinct is home to more than 50 businesses and is renowned as one of the most forward-thinking places for business in regional Victoria.
