GEELONG-based health insurer GMHBA has appointed a successor to outgoing boss David Greig.

Jarrod Coysh will join the not-for-profit insurer in the first quarter of the new financial year after previously serving as chief executive of REI Super.

He has previously worked in banking, strategy and management consulting.

The appointment follows Greig’s decision in March to step down after five years leading the organisation.

GMHBA chair Claire Higgins said Coysh was selected following a national recruitment process.

“Jarrod brings a compelling combination of personal style, strategic capability, financial expertise and a strong understanding of member-based organisations,” she said.

“His leadership experience, together with his background in banking and strategy, means he is well placed to lead GMHBA in a complex and highly regulated environment.”

Coysh said it was a privilege to join GMHBA and build on the insurer’s long history.

“I have great respect for the people and culture that have shaped GMHBA over nine decades, and I look forward to working with the team to build on those strong foundations,” he said.

Higgins thanked Greig for his leadership over the past five years, crediting him with steering the organisation through the Covid-19 pandemic while strengthening its operations and overseeing continued growth.
