Police investigate Bannockburn fatal crash

Police are investigating a fatal crash near Bannockburn this morning after a van and truck collided head-on.

Emergency services were called to Bannockburn-Shelford Road about 7.40am following reports of a collision.

Police said it is understood the impact forced the van down an embankment and into a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the van, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The truck driver, who was also the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not injured and stopped at the scene.

Ballarat Highway Patrol officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
