Todd Sampson to headline Geelong Small Business Festival

INSPIRING businessman, adventurer, television presenter and award-winning documentary-maker Todd Sampson will headline the Geelong Small Business Festival at the The Pier Geelong in August.

The August 3 event will see the former chief executive officer and chair of Leo Burnett reveal practical tools and techniques that can be used to improve ones brain capabilities to challenge the modern-day stresses of life.

Sampson has a huge resume of business accolades and presently sits on the board of directors of both Fairfax and Qantas while also being the co-creator of the Earth Hour initiative, one of the largest environmental movements in history, reaching more than 1 billion people in 5,500 cities worldwide.

City of Greater Geelong mayor Peter Murrihy is proud to be welcoming Sampson to Geelong, saying the event would will no doubt attract a big crowd of interested business entrepreneurs.

“Guest speakers, like Todd, can really inspire business owners and operators to try something different and take their business to the next level,” Cr Murrihy said.

“We’re thrilled to have secured Todd for this headline event, and we encourage everyone to book early because tickets are likely to sell out.”

The council’s economic development deputy chair, Cr Bruce Harwood, said Sampson will present an information session titled “Boost your Brain Power”, followed by a question-and-answer session.

“Along with hearing from one of Australia’s best business minds, this is a fantastic opportunity for local business operators to network and make new contacts with like-minded businesses and industry experts.” Cr Harwood said.

Cr Murrihy said small businesses were a huge driver of Greater Geelong’s economy, with the city wanting to foster and provide learning and development opportunities for businesses of all shapes and sizes to further their business prowess through the festival.

The Geelong Small Business Festival ticks into its 12th year in 2022 and is the region’s largest dedicated business festival.

The event will feature more than 50 low-cost and free events.

The festival attracted close to 700 people in 2021 and will no doubt once again provide an important boost to the region’s small business community so they can connect, inspire and grow.

Tickets for Todd Sampson’s event “Boost your Brain Power” are available now for $65.

Admission includes a three-course meal and refreshments.

The event will run from 6-10pm.
