The Victorian Government has responded to prolonged lobbying from the Real Estate Institute of Victoria to lift minimum training requirements to work in the real estate sector.
New regulations for real estate education introduced by the State Government came into effect last week.
We have worked very closely with the national and state government stakeholders to achieve this outcome and will continue to build on this foundation.
The introduction follows a period of extensive consultation and a sustained lobbying by the REIV to lift real estate training standards.
The REIV welcomes the State Government’s actions to raise the education standards required for the real estate sector.
A Certificate IV will now be the minimum real estate qualification required to work in real estate. Exemptions are in place for people who are already working in real estate or have completed their qualifications recently.
As a Registered Training Organisation focused on high quality real estate training, the REIV will commence delivering the new training package without delay.
Lifting Real Estate training standards has been a long-term goal of the REIV. Having quality training drives up public confidence in our sector.
REIV Members are also required to undertake ongoing professional development which ensures that Victorians are always serviced by well-informed professionals.
We applaud the State Government for taking action to lift training standards for Victorian real estate.
As the sector continues to evolve, so must the standards to ensure that Victorian real estate continues to attract committed and talented people.
