Torquay agency McCartney Real Estate is having a refresh in the new year, with Tim Carson welcoming Matt Kavenagh and Brent Hartigan as co-directors.
Mr Carson, who announced the new leadership structure this week, said the change had been in the works for some time.
“”It’s got to the stage where we’ve now got a team of 22 staff. [Previous director] John [McMahon] left us on June 30, 2022 and I’ve been the sole director since John left, and I need a hand with the day-to-day operations. Brent and Matt came on a little over 12 months ago and we know the time is now right.”
It will be business as usual at McCartney Real Estate for buyers and sellers, with Mr Carson staying on as an agent, the officer in effective control, sales manager and part owner of the company indefinitely after the new arrangement is finalised on July 1, 2026.
“After 11 consecutive years as the town’s leading listing and selling agent, we remain focused on evolving our strategies to continually improve the experience we deliver to our clients”, Mr Carson said.
“Social media is evolving, marketing’s evolving, technology is evolving, there’s so much happening. Matt’s very good in the sales and social media space, I’ll take on the mentoring and training, and Brent will look to oversee the sales team and day-to-day operations.”
Mr Hartigan said he and Mr Kavanagh were looking forward to growing and further strengthening the agency.
“We’re very grateful that we get to work alongside someone like Tim and being involved in the business he’s created.
“Our team is exceptional. They have strong, long-standing relationships within the town and broader community, and that’s something we’re committed to building on. We’re very excited by the opportunity and looking forward to building on the strong foundations already in place.”
Mr Kavanagh added that it was also amazing to have the opportunity to work in a town he loved and was passionate about. “I’ve lived in Torquay for 13 years, and now to take on this role, to service the community in this next chapter for McCartney Real Estate with Tim as our mentor alongside our awesome team is very exciting”
McCartney Real Estate will reopen the doors to its office at 7 Gilbert Street, rebuilt after a fire in April 2024, in early February.
“It’s going to be really exciting. Graeme’s been busy with the rebuild and we’re going to have a state-of-the-art office and a shopfront presence back on the main street, which we believe is very important,” Mr Carson said.
“For us, we’re just going to continue to evolve, to continue to improve – and to not forget about the fundamentals of real estate which are honesty, integrity, communication, and community.”
