THE Golden Plains Shire draft asset management strategy and policy is open for community consultation after it was approved for public exhibition at last week’s council meeting.

The document has been updated to align with growing asset management needs in the area and to ensure they are overseen in a sustainable way.

Residents can share their thoughts on the draft until Friday 10 May and any feedback will contribute to the final document which will be presented back to councillors in June.

The policy and strategy outlines a coordinated approach to managing assets essential to the Shire and defines principles which aid their sustained management.

Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encouraged the community to share their thoughts on the document.

“The asset management policy adheres to best practices, meeting the requirements of the National Asset Management Assessment Framework,” he said.

“It will enable Council to implement a coordinated approach to the management of all assets essential to Council’s strategic and operational goals,” Cr Cunningham said.

“I encourage community members to review these draft documents and provide feedback. Your input will help shape Council’s decision making and planning to ensure we continue to improve our asset management.”

The document can be viewed on the Golden Plains Shire website or hard copies can be collected at customer hubs located in Bannockburn and Smythesdale.
