Revved up for the recovery

August 18, 2021 BY

Ballarat Indoor Go Karts underwent significant renovations during the 2019 COVID lockdowns, and now that investment is paying off.

CATHERINE and Darren Hayes purchased Ballarat Indoor Go Karts three months before the first COVID lockdown.

During 2019, staying financially viable, and renovations to the business was their focus.

With government funding, Jobkeeper and a lot of blood, sweat and tears, they’ve came through to showcase their new look venue, and everyone’s loved it.

Catherine and Darren are so proud of what’s been achieved in such adverse times for their business.

Yet 2020 has brough new challenges, and opportunities. The challenge of keeping the business financial and maintaining staff through further lockdowns has been hard.

Sometimes Catherine and Darren feel like they’re taking one step forward and two backwards. But they also see a bright future ahead.

The newest karts on any track in Victoria have brought a return to the corporate team building market which was identified as one of Ballarat Indoor Go Karts biggest growth opportunities.

Our weekly league racers, both individual and team events, are so proud their regional venue has the best equipment for them to satisfy their need to speed.

The redesign of the reception area to includes two individual party rooms has parents very excited.

Catherine and Darren are continually re-vamping sections of the Laserforce arena, and the introduction of an arcade centre has seen strong growth the teenage market.

Looking back at the last 18 months, Catherine and Darren know that in their past 20 years of business, this has been their biggest roller coaster ride.

They thank the Ballarat community for their support of our local business and all local businesses.

They also thank their amazing staff who continually come back to work after each shutdown with big smiles on their faces.

Catherine and Darren so proud to be members of Commerce Ballarat, who support them and many others, and even prouder to be finalists in the 2021 Federation Business School Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards.
