Ballarat Health Services Resident Turns 102

RUBY Menzies celebrated her 102nd birthday with her family on Thursday, 13 September at WB Messer Hostel.

Mrs Menzies grew up in South Gippsland before moving to Ballarat when she married and has lived here ever since.

She has six children and multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mrs Menzies enjoys watching the football and barracks for Essendon. She also enjoys listening to Country and Western music, and going on outings for lunch most weekends at Stockland Wendouree.

Her secret to a long life is to just take what comes, and to avoid smoking and drinking.

Ballarat Health Services recently celebrated Aged Care Week, recognising the positive impact that dedicated public health workers make to Residential Aged Care.

As part of the celebrations Ballarat Health Services held an Aged Care forum ‘Together We Care – Building Capacity in Regional Aged Care’, which gave regional and rural aged care providers an opportunity to increase their knowledge of evidence based best practice and to further understand the challenges the aged care industry currently faces.
