FEEDBACK SOUGHT ON URBAN FOREST PLAN

January 23, 2019 BY

THE City of Ballarat has launched a Draft Urban Forest Action Plan and your feedback is wanted.

The plan is a result of an action item in the municipality’s ‘Today, Tomorrow, Together: The Ballarat Strategy’ and is aimed at informing the protection of urban trees and adding more.

Over 150 people contributed to the urban forest plan draft following community engagement in 2017.

Included in the draft document are plans for a census on the city’s trees – with measurement and management plans, an increase in canopy cover to 40 per cent, two more hectares of green space in the CBD and more trees for places like Wendouree, Sebastopol and Delacombe.

The Draft Urban Forest Action Plan is currently available for download from mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au and the feedback period closes on Monday, 18 February.
