MEMBERS of the Maude Fire Brigade are looking to reconnect with the community with a Halloween themed trivia night next week.

With a spooky season dress-up theme and prizes to be won, the brigade’s auxiliary member Michael Monea said it’ll be an ideal way to reintroduce the volunteer team to the community.

“We had a real good bit of momentum with community engagement with events like this but as COVID and lockdowns happened, we couldn’t get people together,” he said.

“There’s been a lot of people move out and come in and we want to get our name back out there on what we’re about.

Four rounds of questions will be led by local trivia host John Karounos.

Funds raised from the event will go back into the brigade for upgrades and new equipment, with their current goals including replacing their 15-year-old truck and upgrading their slip-on unit.

Mr Monea said the event will also be an opportunity to hopefully recruit new members.

“It’ll give us a bit of a line on recruitment to let people know we’d love to see some new faces in the CFA and build our member base,” he said.

“I’m particularly keen on getting younger members in. We have an older demographic of around 50s onward. We’d love to get a juniors team together as well. That’s a goal is to generate a younger demographic.

“It’s also a social outing for our members who’ve had a tough few years.”

The brigade currently has about 50 volunteers, 35 of which are active members.

Maude CFA’s trivia night will take place on Friday 13 October at the Lethbridge Recreation Reserve.

Tickets are $10 general and free for kids under 12 and can be booked by calling Mr Monea on 0420 864 201.
