GRAMPIANS Health has announced four points of community contact in the form of its community reference groups.

Based in Ballarat along with Edenhope, Horsham and Dimboola, and Stawell, the groups will aim to facilitate a chain of communication between recently created Grampians Health and the surrounding communities.

The initiative will seek to provide a representative platform for community feedback and advocacy, and Grampians Health CEO Dale Fraser said they’ll be a link between the medical service and the wider community.

“The formation of the community reference groups was a commitment we made as part of creating Grampians Health, to ensure that local communities continue to have an active voice in their local health service,” he said.

“Residents can provide feedback to us via their local representatives, and Grampians Health will be able to distil important information out to communities via the same channel.

“It’s really important to us that our communities are involved in Grampians Health, that they are consulted with and feel empowered to collaborate and support Grampians Health in providing the best possible care for the Grampians region.”

The groups will report to the Grampians Health Board via a community advisory committee where former Wimmera Health Care Group board member Merryn Eagle will serve as chair.
