THE Ballarat Parkinson’s Support Group is holding its inaugural charity walk on Friday, 2 November.

Established nearly forty years ago, the group is an informal gathering of people who share similar situations, experiences and problems, offer one another emotional and practical support where needed, and raise funds for Parkinson’s Victoria.

The Support Group chair Elaine Maberly said a leisurely noncompetitive stroll around the shores of Lake Wendouree is a great way to show support for people living with Parkinson’s.

Mrs Maberly said the Ballarat group are hoping to emulate the success of Parkinson’s Victoria’s annual walk held
in Melbourne which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.

To enjoy the walk, she encourages the members of the community to get family, friends and work colleagues together as team.

Commencing at 1pm, the starting point for the walk is in front of the public toilet block on Wendouree Parade across from Lake Wendouree Fairyland. Mrs Maberly said it will be well sign posted.

Entry fee is $10 and all money raised will go Parkinson’s Victoria, boosted by a donation direct from the group.
