Sebastopol Primary School 40th anniversary

September 12, 2018 BY

IN 1978 Sebastopol Primary relocated from its original site behind the Sebastopol Bowling Club to its current site in Yarrowee Street.

Teachers and students were involved in the planning and design of the school.

It was one of the first examples of open, flexible learning spaces for children in Ballarat.

Students walked to their new school along Yarrowee Street carrying their school belongings on a cold September day.

It was a memorable occasion that brought school families and the community together.

Many of these families still regularly meet and enjoy lifelong friendships that started at the school.

Past teachers and student involved with the relocation can remember the excitement and thrill of moving into a modern building that included specialist learning spaces, open classrooms, an indoor atrium and large grounds.

The unique building will be open to past students, staff and families on September 17th 12:30pm for a School Tour and lunch, and September 18th 1pm Across the Decades Concert and afternoon tea. RSVP Sebastopol Primary School on 5335 8157
