Brim Brim Gardens in Lal Lal Street – Buninyong

Open Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October, 10am to 4:.30pm From the time of their initial construction in 1859, the gardens of Brim Brim have been added-to and enhanced by a succession of owners. Much of the current layout has been created since the early 1980s, although there are many remnant trees from earlier generations including cedars, cypress, Bunya pine and Moreton Bay fig.

Sue and Jeremy, the current owners have built on these historical assets to create an Arts and Crafts garden- style.

There are scores of standard roses edged with perennials, spring-flowering bulbs and other plants adding much colour to the evergreen garden. Hedges of laurel, viburnum and holly define garden rooms with several dry-stone walls, timber gates and tiered garden beds framing the plantings to create a delightful garden experience.

Open Sunday 28 October 10am to 4.30pm

Ann’s Garden
Ann is inspired by Permaculture and its principles are reflected throughout her house and garden. Permaculture is a means to bringing a truly sustainable lifestyle to your home and community… an ingenious Australian-designed system based on people working in harmony with nature and landscape… providing their food, energy, shelter and other needs.

Rene & Jennie’s Garden
Rene and Jennie decided to downsize and update their original backyard in a standard quarter acre/1,000sqm block. The primary aspirations of this garden, barely two years old, are food production, a habitat for birds, microflora and microfauna, use of local resources (rocks) and utility of micro climates occurring due to the 8m slope from the back to the front of the block.

Michael & Megan’s Garden
Michael and Megan are inspired by the sloping topography of their site, the surrounding parklands and the unique contemporary design of their house for their ‘Brohaus’ garden. Features include the stepped angular boardwalk, pods floating above native ground covers, creative use of captured water, produce gardens, chooks and a giant chess board.
