Townwide garage sale returns
Linton’s Townwide Garage Sale will be back on Sunday 13 October, with about 15 local households and organisations signed on to participate.
“This event has been quite strong right from the beginning when we had over 20 garage sales happening,” said coordinator Jenny Stuart.
“It’s quite pleasing to see this year we’ve got more town organisations involved. It’s generally just the Men’s Shed that’ll have a sausage sizzle and a stall of their own.
“But this year, we’ve got the bowling club, the progress association, the craft group, and the historical society involved.
“It’s great to see these organisations are seeing what an opportunity this is to show what they do and what they have even to people within the community.”
As part of the event, three stallholders will be setting up their pre-loved goods at the front of the Linton Emporium.
The shop’s co-owner Warren Bowen, who will also be running a stall across the road for the Linton Pantry, said the townwide garage sale has long been a calendar highlight for the community.
“The shop’s been involved in the event for probably about five years now,” he said.
“It brings a lot more people to town, and the weeks and months following, people return here. It’s just a really simple concept with no committees that brings a lot of money to the town.
“For locals selling their stuff, it’s usually really hard to have one garage sale out here but it’s well worth coming for 30.”
A free map featuring the participants’ addresses and their key items of interest will be available on the day at Linton Takeaway.
The garage sale will run from 8am to 2pm. To express interest in getting involved, contact Ms Stuart on 0427 447 416.
