Wendouree Rotary Club – 60 years young

Rotary Club of Wendouree celebrated its 60th anniversary at a special dinner, attended by approximately 80 members and guests, at Sovereign Hill’s New York Bakery last weekend.

Keynote speaker, raconteur and columnist Roland Rocchiccioli reflected and reminisced in a presentation titled Through the Years.

Club president Rex Carland said it was a time for catching up with current and past members marking all their achievements. Mr Carland said the club is looking forward to the future.

“Service clubs have challenges into the future but to continue to deliver as we have done over the years we need new people coming through,” said Mr Carland.

“We are looking for new members to continue the good work of service to our community.”

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problemsolvers who see a world where people unite and act to create lasting change.

Rotary’s members have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to act on sustainable projects.

From literacy and peace to water and health, Rotary is always working to better the world.

Mr Carland says Rotary Wendouree has a strong history of involvement with younger generations through their sponsorship of overseas exchange students.

While the club’s major youth project is the annual Careers Expo, where in excess of 2000 students, from all schools within the Ballarat region, have the opportunity to interact with approximately 180 business exhibitors, gaining firsthandknowledge on potential career options.
