HEATHCOTE’S brilliant run on the bowls green has kept rolling.

The Saints are first to the Division Three grand final of the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields weekend pennant.

A 12-shot victory against Serpentine in last Saturday’s second semi has put the Saints in to the 9 March flag match.

Heathcote and Serpentine played a closely-fought contest at South Bendigo on day one of the finals series.

Adam Luxford scored five shots on the first end and led by five shots after nine ends.

Luxford’s rink went on to claim a 22-18 win against Brian Gladman.

The margin was three shots by the 12th end of Chris Morcom’s match against Darren Anset.

Serpentine scored six shots on the 17th end to lead by 10.

The match ended in a 23-12 victory for Anset’s rink.

Bill Gardiner’s rink made a brilliant start and held a seven-shot buffer after 10 ends.

Gardiner won six of the last 11 ends to clinch a 19-14 victory against Neville Tonkin.

Maurice Lee led by 13 shots after 12 ends and scored five shots on the 16th end to record a 25-11 win against Alan Bish.

The Saints won 78-66.

This Saturday’s preliminary final features Serpentine and South Bendigo at Bendigo.

An inter-club practice match will be played at Heathcote this Saturday from 1pm while the club’s Invitation Fours tournament is on Sunday from 10am.

Pennant practice for the Saints is on 4pm on Thursday.
