City celebrates local premier

WITH the instalment of the Member for Bendigo East, Jacinta Allan, as the new Premier of Victoria, the political head of the City of Greater Bendigo has acknowledged and celebrated Ms Allan’s move into the top job.

A statement from mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf, on behalf of the municipality, congratulated Ms Allan as a local resident, and as a long-time member of Parliament.

Cr Metcalf also thanked the outgoing leader, former Premier Daniel Andrews, for his service.

“The City of Greater Bendigo extends a warm congratulations to the new Premier of Victoria, the Honorable Jacinta Allan,” Cr Metcalf said.

“Jacinta becomes Victoria’s second female Premier, and the first in thirty years.

“As the Member for Bendigo East, we have worked closely with Jacinta since her election in 1999.

“The City would also like to acknowledge outgoing Premier Daniel Andrews and thank him for his support of Greater Bendigo and the region.

“We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the Victorian Government and progressing priority projects for Greater Bendigo and the region.”
