Entries sought for show sampler
COOKS, artists, and other craft specialists are invited to enter a micro competition at the Heathcote showgrounds on Saturday, 22 April.
There are 29 classes, including Victorian Agricultural Society categories, and entry is free.
Art and craft chief steward Marj Harris said winners of the Heathcote VAS sections would advance to group finals on Sunday, 30 April and group winners would then participate in the statewide competition at the Royal Melbourne Show in September.
“Entries need to be in by 10am on the day; there’s no entry form, just bring them in” she said. “They’ll be on show from 12 to 3 after judging.”
The 2022 Heathcote Show was called off after the showgrounds became waterlogged due to heavy rain, and COVID restrictions saw the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 shows.
This micro competition allows local entrants who missed out in recent years to have the chance to progress through to this year’s statewide contests.
The Victorian Yard Utility and Farm Dog Association will be running the re-scheduled Heathcote Yard Trials on the same date.
That’s an all-day event, spectators are welcome and there’s no cost to watch the dog trials or to view the art and craft exhibition in the afternoon.
