Help for small businesses

LOCAL businessman Ken McNabb will meet with members of the City of Greater Bendigo’s Economic Growth Team later this month to learn more about how the team can assist enterprises.
McNabb, owner of Tangible Consulting, an independent technical consultancy specialising in industrial automation, machine vision, safety systems, and embedded electronics, believes that not many people know about the team.
“[They] are visiting on 20 June to learn about Tangible Consulting’s business and direction,” said McNabb.
“I hope information gained from the meeting will be of benefit to share with other small business owners or those looking to start one.
“Many people in the region run their own small businesses and most have little idea what the CoGBEGT offers, or that its services exist to support exactly the kind of ventures being built here.
“The visit to Heathcote is a chance to surface that information for the community in a way that a council newsletter never quite achieves.
“Most small business owners in the region pay rates and charges to the CoGB without a clear picture of what economic development services exist to support them.
“The visit will provide an opportunity to ask those questions directly and report the answers.”
McNabb plans to use Tangible Consulting as a case study to investigate what support the council can offer small businesses and whether people are accessing it.
“I would like to use the meeting to draw out that information and give it directly to McIvor Times readers who may benefit from the same services,” he said.
“I will be asking what grant programmes or subsidised services are currently available and how to access them, and if there are connections, networks, or introduction programmes business owners may not know about.
“Following my meeting with GoGBEGT, I will report to McIvor Times readers, and particularly small business owners, what exists to help them and how to access it.”
