FIFTY people from Heathcote and the surrounding districts attended the Grease movie singalong experience at Barrack Reserve Hall last weekend.
Attendees enjoyed an authentic diner-style lunch and dressed in 1950s fashions for the event presented by Heathcote Community House (HCH).
Participants had an afternoon of singing, laughter and reminiscing, as well as raffles and prizes, in the hall transformed to resemble Rydell High.
Organiser Sylvia Crewe was delighted with how the event turned out.

“I am very grateful for the support from the Heathcote Film Festival and the football netball club,” she said.
“The Barrack Reserve Hall was a fabulous venue and everyone who attended had a great day.
“I would especially like to thank Vicki Forde and all the volunteers who helped make it happen.”
HCH executive officer Vicki Forde said the event showed what can be achieved with collaboration.

“The Heathcote Football Netball Club manned the bar for the afternoon and Clarissa and Duncan from Heathcote Film Festival did a fantastic job with the technical equipment,” she said.
“In small towns like ours, working together is important to enable us to accomplish great things.
“Our caterer extraordinaire Julie Butler did an amazing job recreating the 50s menu, assisted by generous volunteers.
“Julie is a busy lady, like all of us, but always willing to help out.

“We are always grateful for volunteers, whether they have regular time available or can pitch in for one-off events.”
Forde said events like the Grease singalong are valuable for locals and those from outlying areas.
“They bring people out, and they don’t have to travel far,” she said.
“When you see the joy that people get when we organise things like this, it really makes it worthwhile.”
