THE chief executive officer of Bendigo Health has announced his retirement.

After six years at the helm Peter Faulkner will step down later this year and he’s celebrating the achievements and passion of his colleagues.

“Reflecting on my term… we have achieved a great deal including the growth of services, the increased regional collaboration, implementation of an electronic patient record and establishment of the regional public health unit as well as a number of capital upgrades,” he said.

“I am also humbled by the philanthropic support Bendigo Health receives from our community, providing us with the ability to purchase new equipment and fund services our patients would not otherwise be able to access, most notably the Gobbe Wellness Centre which is 100 per cent funded by fundraising efforts and offers a range of complementary services for cancer patients.

“I want to thank the board and all the staff for their support during my tenure. I will be sad to leave this great health service, but it is the right time… and the next CEO will have a great team to help them lead the service.”

Bendigo Health board chair Ewa Piejko commended Mr Faulkner on his leadership, particularly during extreme fire, flood and pandemic events.
