Learn about RFDS transport

AN Awareness Dinner for RFDS Community Transport will be held at Heathcote Golf Club on Friday 2 August at 6pm.

RFDS volunteers Peter Cunningham and Sonya Davies are organising the dinner.

“We have talked to many people in the community who have heard of RFDS Community Transport,” said Mr Cunningham, “but don’t know exactly what they do.

“The dinner is for anyone who has heard of it but doesn’t know all the ins and outs.

“It’s for anyone who wants to learn more about the origins of the service, what it provides and how people can help.

“There is always a need for more volunteer drivers and we will discuss what is involved and how people can help.

“We will have a question-and-answer session so people can learn more and a talk from a service user talking about what it means to him.

“We hope to encourage lots of interested people to come along.”

The event will include a special guest appearance by Heathcote singer/songwriter Mariah McCarthy.

“It will be a great night and we are really pleased to have Mariah providing entertainment,” Mr Cunningham said.

Tickets for the three-course dinner are $35 per person.
